Is stress destroying you or making you creative?

Have you ever experienced this…?

Something stressful happens…

Or there’s some work you’re hiding from…

And then you start consuming videos after videos?

Some people do ‘stress eating’.

I am more of this ‘stress-consuming’ kinda guy.

I don’t see this as doomscrolling.
Because I’m not scrolling much.

I’m just consuming big informational videos or episodes.

Initially I had a more critical view towards this…

“Why am I doing this?”
“Why am I wasting my time?”
“I can do something more productive”

But that didn’t help much.

Now I don’t directly fight it.

I do these 3 things to manage it:

1.) Keep a list of GOOD CONTENT for stress consumption

These are videos that I would want to consume anyway.

So whether I’m stress consuming or normal viewing…

It’s fine with me.

2.) Note down IDEAS for emails when I am stress-consuming

Li’l secret: Idea for this content came when I was stress-consuming 🙂

This stress-consuming usually ends up being a creative and productive time for me.

3.) Don’t forget the MAIN questions

After I have been stress-consuming for 30 mins…

I pause the video.

And ask myself…

What’s the core thing that’s causing me stress?
Or what’s the core thing I’m hiding from?

And what am I gonna do about it?

This delay of 30 mins kinda helps me manage the stress better.

Then I answer these questions.

And start getting back on track.

These 3 things have worked well for me.
