Is THIS the reason why your biz isn’t growing like crazy?
I was reading this Zen story today.
A Zen Master, Rinzai, was asked…
“What did you use to do before your enlightenment?”
He said…
“I used to do the same as I am doing now.
I used to carry water from the well for my Master and I used to chop wood for my Master and for the commune.
I continue to do the same: I carry water from the well and I chop wood for my disciples.”
The man said, “But then what is the difference between an enlightened man and an unenlightened man?”
Rinzai said…
“The unenlightened man thinks that this is an ordinary life – chopping wood, carrying water from the well – and the enlightened man knows this is holy, this is sacred, this is divine.”
I loved this story.
And it reminded me of the difference…
between an unsuccessful and a successful coach.
Unsuccessful coach looks at the process as a means to an end.
I HAVE to do this…
And this…
And this…
And this…
To get the result I desire.
Even though I hate it all… I will try and do it…
because my goooruuuu told me so.
Once I reach my goal…
Then I’ll be ballin’. I’ll get the validation. I’ll be happy.
I’ll be fulfilled.
But what usually happens…
When you hate the process, you don’t stick with it for longer.
And you don’t get the results you desire.
In rare cases where you do get the result…
You remain unfulfilled.
Because the result doesn’t feel like you once imagined it would.
Because you hate the whole process and business you have built.
As a result…
The dream of balling, being happy, and being fulfilled remains a dream.
Successful coach realizes this early on…
Process is fulfillment in itself.
Ever created something and felt whole and fulfilled?
You DIDN’T need any external validation.
You were deeply satisfied with the process of creation itself.
Process is the goal.
End result is just the cherry on top.
Ironically when you enjoy the process…
When it’s in alignment with WHO YOU ARE…
You naturally get those CRAZY BIG RESULTS.
Plus you sustain these big results because you enjoy the process.
