read this if you are a multi-passionate coach
(7 profitable tips)
You might have heard these lines before…
“Become a master at 1 thing”
“Become a specialist, not a generalist”
“Pick 1 niche and stick to it”
“You have a focus problem”
“You must finish what you start”
“Multi-passionate is an excuse for procrastination”
On and on…
But when you are multi-passionate and hear lines like these, you might think…
“I love many things. How do I pick 1?”
“Hearing all this specialization and niche stuff feels like someone is sucking the light out of me”
“I did all that. I have a profitable business.
But I’m not too fond of the business I have built.
I want to include more of who I truly am.”
“Focus problem… no kidding”
“Yeah I have many unfinished ideas and projects.
Maybe I have an issue”
I have multiple passions… so I understand what you might be going through.
Does focus, mastery, and sticking to 1 thing work?
100%. I have done that. And seen many of our clients succeed with it.
But that success felt CONSTIPATED to me.
So I started including a variety of my interests in my coaching business (around 18 months ago).
Here are 7 profitable tips I’d share with you:
1.) Do NOT start multiple businesses
I have seen coaches starting multiple businesses just because they have multiple interests.
And they are struggling in ALL of them.
Not 1 of these businesses are making any profits.
What happens as a result?
Multi-passion becomes a source of multi-level frustration.
And all your past profits and savings go down the drain.
2.) Start with 1 piece of content
When you are multi-passionate…
You have ideas flowing left, right, and center.
Note ‘em down.
But don’t bombard your audience with all of your ideas and multiple offers at once.
They will get confused and leave your world.
Start with 1 piece of content.
Why?
Because in my experience…
Some of our passions are momentary.
And they pass away after writing 3 posts on the topic.
My strong recommendation…
Don’t bet your whole world on momentary passions.
3.) Relate it back to your audience
I tell a philosophical story and relate it back to business coaching.
I take personality tests.
And relate them back to how you can build a business that’s in alignment with WHO YOU ARE.
I enjoy dramatic relationship drama.
And share how we can set the right boundaries with our clients.
You can take a fitness principle and relate it back to relationships
You can take therapy and relate it back to career coaching.
When you know your audience deeply…
And know how to create the right content…
You can pick any topic of your interest.
And turn it into a relevant, intriguing, desire-inducing, and trust-building piece of content for your dream clients.
Your multiple passions will help you STAND OUT in a cookie-cutter market.
4.) Deliver to your current clients first (if they are interested)
Instead of creating a full-blown offer from the get-go.
Work with your current clients who are interested in your INTERESTS.
I shared intuitive meditation and success hypnosis with my “business coaching clients”.
They were interested. So I did it. And they loved it.
Once you know they love it…
you can launch a paid masterclass or workshop or program on it if you want.
But remember…
5.) Keep 1 core program. Sign clients on 1 core result they desire.
“WHAAAAT?”
Hear me out…
You can have multiple interests.
And deliver multiple things to the clients who are interested (like we discussed in the last point).
But NEVER dilute the core promise you are going to deliver on.
Most people would sign up with you for that 1 core result they desire.
And stay with you for the depth you have on multiple things.
6.) Discard and Depth
Discard the interests that were momentary.
Build depth in the ones that you are obsessed with.
7.) Know if it’s a passion or distraction
Sometimes we bring on side things…
Because the main thing isn’t working or moving forward.
We don’t want to feel the discomfort of taking the main thing to the next level.
We don’t want to see our incompetence.
We don’t want to work on building the next-level skills, values, and beliefs.
We don’t want to upgrade our current version.
So our mind says… let’s leave the main thing here.
And let’s bring the side things to distract ourselves from the discomfort.
If you give yourself time to sit alone and reflect…
you will know whether it’s a genuine passion or just a comforting distraction.
Those were the 7 profitable tips.
Utilize them if you are a multi-passionate coach.
P.S. Let me know which point resonated with you the most.
That’s it for today.
Take care.
